K.T. Murphy is one of the schools piloting the new report card this year. Report cards for K-5 are distributed three times a year in December, March, and June. These report cards will reflect academic acheivement, effort, social skills, and work habits. The new report cards will utilize the following standards-based
4 -1 grading system.
4 - Exemplary: This grade is the highest grade a student can receive.
It means that the student has exceeded the grade level standard.
3 - Proficient: This grade means the student has met the grade level
standard.
2 - Partially Proficient: This grade means the student is
approaching the grade level standard and needs more help in 1 or 2 areas.
1 - Does Not Meet Standard: This grade means the student is
far below the grade level standard and needs significant help in order
to achieve the grade level standard.
Report cards will also contain information on attendance, and parent/teacher conferences. The time and date of the conference is indicated on the report card. Parents must sign the report card envelope and return the envelope to the child's teacher.
You will be informed by your child's teacher about a formal conference at the end of the first two marking periods. A parent may request a conference at any time during the school year. Please make an appointment with your child's teacher to discuss information about classroom programs and procedures, your child's progress and adjustment to date, as well as the teacher's expectations. A conferences is expected to be productive and help strengthen the lines of communication between school and home.
